Star Power Spotlight: Blanca Restrepo

Blanca Restrepo has dedicated 30 years to Chelsea Public Schools and the last six of those have been as principal of Berkowitz Elementary School. Her journey in Chelsea began long before she became an educator. When she was a third grader, Blanca’s family immigrated to the US, and the city of Chelsea, from Bogotá, Colombia. She eventually became a proud graduate of Chelsea High School. Now as a principal, Blanca leads with the belief that “Together, We are Better,” ensuring every student feels supported in their journey as lifelong learners.

Her connection to Girls on the Run began at home. As a GOTR parent, she watched her daughter grow in confidence, build meaningful friendships, and find motivation through the program. Inspired by GOTR’s impact, she introduced the program to her own school so that more girls could benefit from the same life-changing lessons and sense of community.

As both a parent and educator, she has seen how GOTR strengthens a school from the inside out. The program equips teachers with resources in social-emotional learning and inspiring more physical activity, while creating a welcoming space where every girl feels valued and supported. Through engaging lessons and team activities, GOTR not only empowers participants but also fosters connection across the school community.

“Girls on the Run embodies our school’s spirit,” she shares. “It inspires confidence, resilience, and belonging—and shows our girls that together, we are truly better.”

We are grateful to Principal Restrepo for being a true GOTR Champion and for bringing and supporting this powerful program to her school community and beyond.
